I've recently decided to learn Spanish- guitar not the language- and so far i've learnt the Randy Rhodes/ Spanish Gypsy scale. but that only helps if I wanted to learn to play electric Spanishy lead. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or stuff for me to start with s'il vous plait.

Rock on, Rock hard and Rock heavy!!!

Don't forget about the Phrygian mode and the Spanish Flamingo scale. Read through our files we have these scales listed or try our chord scale generators.

I find that it does the same thing, it only helps if I want to add a Spanish flavour to my electric I was thinking more along the lines of creating Spanish rhythm as well as lead. Are there any files describing how to strike a chord to get that special flemenco feel?

I was under the impression that flamenco fit under classical guitar.... But I don't know. I'm trying to figure out if the "Flamingo" is a real scale or just made up.

I started searching on the web and I found a site that I hope will get you started with Flamenco Guitar if you're interested in learning that scale as well. After reading it I thought it sounded like something I might want to get into, so I'll post updates on this forum as I get started with that. Thanks for the idea!! Let me know how it goes for you!

The website you posted just hangs... I took out the link and left the url even though posting links is againest the rules. The links section, classfieds is the place for that.

Thanks

Sorry about that Brian. Next time I'll pm the link

We have to go by the rules because everybody and their brother is trying to get free advertising from this site. We set up the links section for all links and classifieds for selling stuff etc...

"Are there any files describing how to strike a chord to get that special flemenco feel?"

How do you strum to get that flamenco sound? Here's a way to begin:

Make a fist with the right hand and hold the index, middle and ring fingers tightly with the thumb. Strike down with the pinky across the strings as though flicking a spit-wad. Push the ring finger past the thumb and flick again, then again with the middle finger and last the index. Practice this slowly until each finger can strike independently while you hold the others with the thumb to keep them from moving. Later you can do it quickly -
Da-da-da-DUM with the four fingers. There are many variations on this technique with combinations of up and down strokes of the different fingers and the thumb of the right hand.
