What's up with Dillion Guitars? Are these ripoffs of Gibson,PRS,Fender? They look great and are about half the price as the real thing.

Does anyone own one?
This one looks just like the John Lennon Gibson model

I heard alot about dillion and alot of the comments were pretty good. Harmony central has alot of comments about these guitars. Basically copies of say PRS,Gibson, fender etc. Alot better in some cases as I read. Dillion says most copy guitars are basically fire wood and his view to to provide say a 59 style les paul to someone who can't afford the original. Something to check out. He's creating alot of steam in the biz and from what I hear is being sued alot.

I found alot of good reviews when researching Dillion guitars but, I bought a model I found no reviews on. An "Avalanche by Dillion" as it says on the head.
There was alot of white powdery stuff on the fingerboard and in the routed out cavities. It has a Floyd type trem, not great quality. The neck pocket was cut roughly and there is a noticeable gap between the top of the neck and the body at the higher frets. There was very little space between the hi E string and the edge of the higher frets. So, I took of the strings, then the neck to straighten it laterally to the strings to give me a bit more space for the hi E string. I also leveled the rough painted surface in the neck pocket. I was able to get a little more space for the E string but not enough. I like the feel of the guitar and the pickups have a sound I like. And it only cost me $202.50 u$ new plus delivery
I wanted to know more about this guitar, what wood it is etc so, I emailed Dillion but the reply was disappointing, " The Dillion Avalanche were made for the Canadian distributors and I do not handle them in the United States. So, I do not have any info.
Sorry I could not help you any further,
John Dillion" He knows nothing of a guitar with his name on it. It says right on it "by Dillion" I guess some peoples names are for sale.
So the guitar is OK for what I paid for it and, probably the "real" Dillions are of a higher quality but, the fact that he has no knowledge of a product with his name on has put me off considering Dillion guitars.

Oh Ya , I forgot something. When I was straightening the neck joint a couple of the screw holes on the neck stripped easily. The screws for the neck look almost like gold plated drywall screws! i couldn't believe how such small screws were supposed to hold a guitar neck on. A trip to home depot solved that problem tho

I know this is a really old post, but also assume folks still check it out. First off, Dillion used to be a partnership with a US and Canada division. As with many things, the partnership desolved, with the partner in Canada owning the Dillion name in Canada, and John "Dillion" Vinci owning the Dillion name in the US. Below is the post off his website.

Note: Dillion U.S.A is independently owned. Our guitars are hand crafted in Korea.
We are not affiliated with Dillion guitars in any other country
and we only warranty guitars that are sold in the U.S.A

So purchasing an Avalanche by Dillion guitar off E-bay.CA without checking out the Dillion site first... well don't dis Dillion US because your guitar is a Chinese made non questionable quality product. Oh, and no, I'm not from Dillion, but own one, and it's GREAT!!!
