String skipping is a great way to get it down. make sure your hand is resting againest the bridge and mute the strings your not playing.

Example: with open strings
----------------------------------00--
---------------------------------------
--------------------------00----------
-----------00-------------------------
--------------------00----------------
---00---------------------------------

Down up picking of course

Hope this helps

keep time with your foot. when you foot goes up, do an up stroke, when your foot goes down, do a down stroke.
