Ok, im looking for a new guitar, im wanting to play mostly Punk, alt, grunge, metal basically most kinds of rock. and im looking for a guitar around 500 dollars that sounds awesome, also has any one tried Epiphones cheaper versions of the Gibson Sg, and Les Paul and is Epiphones versions any good?

I used to manage a music store and we carried Gibson and Epiphone as one of our biggest name brand guitars.

Epiphone have some nice guitars without a doubt.

The Epiphone Les Paul versions are nice and can be upgraded if different pickups, tuners whatever you want. Not saying you will have to.

My favorite Epiphone is the Casio it's a great blues and jazz guitar.

Like I always say if it sounds good it's good, regardless of the name!!!!

The name is Ryan, thanks for the info, im going this saturday and just playing a bunch of guitars, among the list are teles, strats, those epiphones look nice and im interested in them, what do you think would be the best guitar for Alt. Rock, and possibly some punk, and maybe a little Korn (korn is one of the only "heavy metal" bands i like, cause im just going to be doing covers for awhile, with my friends

I've got an Epiphone SG and it rocks, sounds like just the thing you are looking for.
Also, keep an eye out for the new Squire Tele special. It's got a humbucker in the bridge and a single coil in the neck, great modifying potential

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I love it. I play mine through a Johnson J station with the J8 foot control going to a cheap 100 watt amp and it sounds like a $2300 Gibson. Playability is nice and action comes set up from the factory as close as you will ever get. This guitar rocks.
