Telefreak - 6/23/2004 at 00:08 I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where people can
nominate a guitar slinger because there isn't one already.
So come on folks, join in, it'll save us Mods having to use our shriveling
brains to think them up :giggly:

GuitarMuscle - 6/25/2004 at 14:14I nominate Dime Bag Darrell
I don't see to many heavy music fans so I guess I'm the black sheep
:swearing:
davidt - 7/2/2004 at 20:17I would have to nominate Tom Scholz of Boston fame.
VelvetRevolver14 - 7/3/2004 at 05:30I find it to be a hard choice between Slash and Eddie van halen. but in the
long run id have to vote on eddie.
Telefreak - 7/5/2004 at 02:07Both been done dude :rockout:
GnR_16x - 7/5/2004 at 05:47Go nostalgia.....vote Randy Rhoads, Ozzy's original master of the guitar!!
VelvetRevolver14 - 7/5/2004 at 06:15almost forgot bout him
i cant choose now
sepvac - 7/6/2004 at 02:42How 'bout Rory Gallagher - a man who managed to combine the gift of being
great guitar player with the even rarer gift of being a genuinely decent
human being.
sepvac
JohnL - 7/19/2004 at 00:06Paul Simon...Okay he was no Hendrix but a great guitar player and composer,
Not to mention his singing and songwriting. His work on Scarborough Fair
and The Boxer may not be the most difficult piece but is quite good. I
guess it all depeneds on what you mean by guitar slinger. What makes a good
guitarist? Speed, Technicality, and difficulty or Feeling, soul and
meaning?

X_xNicKx_X - 7/19/2004 at 05:00I think that Tony Iommi is another one... I mean come on, the guy has
plastic caps on his fingers and can play.. There's an interview with him in
September 2004's Guitarworld magazine..
chrisC - 7/30/2004 at 17:57did we all forget about jimmy page? hello does anyone listen to zeppelin.
jimmy page is number one, songwriter and player.
GuitarMuscle - 7/30/2004 at 18:17Yeah what about Jimmy Page oops
chrisC - 8/2/2004 at 03:15JIMMY PAGE IS THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! honestly, i bet hes on
the top ten list of just about anyone whos heard his playing. i should
start a new topic on that.
DeepUriahZeppelin - 8/3/2004 at 14:37I second the nomination of Rory Gallagher. That man could play the blues
with finesse and passion. He was one of a kind. :giggly:
tattoo - 8/3/2004 at 14:51 Gallagher can play very well. How about Danny Gatton? he was kinda country
blues with a touch of jazz. Smoking guitarist before he killed himself.
Telefreak - 8/3/2004 at 23:32Ok, how about Jeff Buckley.
As well a being a Telecaster player and enviably good looking, he was a
hell of a guitarist.
Not in the fast riffing shredding way that seem to be so popular on this
forum, but as an innovative and intelligent musician.
His genre mashing melodic style is something I aspire to. If I were half as
talented as Jeff Buckley, I'd be a very happy man.
chrisC - 8/20/2004 at 19:41how about jade puget (afi) hes definetly one of punk musics greatest
guitarists.
Spidercents - 8/20/2004 at 22:24Robert cray has a nice sound.Stanley jordon is very interesting...There are
so many.I will have to say for most feeling for a lead blues player in our
modern time would have to be jeff healy....you know...the blind guy.
Ozboy - 8/21/2004 at 08:08How about Woddy Guthrie. He had the best attitude to music all you need is
a guitar three chords and the truth
Spidercents - 8/22/2004 at 00:11I never heard of Woddy Guthrie...Thats not the guy who sings walzting
matilda...If not who does sing that.
duuuuuude - 8/22/2004 at 04:07GGGOOOO DDIIMMEEBBAAGG DDAARREELLLLL
Telefreak - 8/24/2004 at 00:59FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Ozboy - 8/24/2004 at 05:36Woody was a folk singer from the twenties. He paved the way for using the
guitar in folk and blues. He inspired people like Bob Dylan and Pete
Seager. He also influenced a very young James Hendrix. I like his simple
ideas that melody is everything. He said all in music is three chords and
the rest is just showing off. It would be good to be able to play lead like
Slash, Kravitz or Satriani. But I hope I could write something someone
would like to hum someday.
GuitarGeek - 9/4/2004 at 02:25Two Words...
Chet Atkins!!!
RedHotChiliPepper - 9/5/2004 at 23:08John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

surfdog - 12/8/2004 at 16:32quote: I nominate Dime Bag

I'll second that! Even if we are outnumbered around these parts. Did you
know he is back with Dean Guitars! www.deanguitars.com First they sign
Michael Schenker and now Dimebag. Yes! New gear coming as well. You also
might want to check out the Dean from Hell http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4912
It's the guitar Dime used for the Cowboys from Hell album. Very cool, but
lots o' mileage.
kris - 12/10/2004 at 16:37    it would have to be slash
ricoboc - 12/11/2004 at 11:42SLASH has been done...
Spidercents - 12/11/2004 at 13:09Jeff healy would be a good pick for bluesy yet rock guitar...Can you see
the light is really good and he has numerous hits in Canada anyway...Try to
copy his guitar riffs...It may sound easy to duplicate however it isnt for
some unknown reason to me...He was amazing in his short time in the
limelight...I tried copying his style however its just a little
different...His riffs are easy...Its his timing that he starts his riffs
and the un-even approch that throws me off a bit...I can play his riffs
however the timing throws me off.
xeno - 12/16/2004 at 08:48Rory Gallagher!
VampGrly91 - 12/30/2004 at 19:28I nominate Billy Martin of Good Charlotte!
weedhopper1 - 2/2/2005 at 13:09 man I dont know ..... its a toss up between Roy Clark and Alex
Liefson........
FrenchCrusader - 2/8/2005 at 15:51Mark Knophler, Eric Clapton, Davy Graham, Bert Jansch, JIMI HENDRIX, George
Harrison, BB King, BRIAN MAY, Muddy Waters, Chuck 'Johnny B. Goode' Berry,
the first single string guitarist Charlie Christian, GARRY MOORE, Jason
Becker, Robin Trower, Carlos Santana, Pete Townsend, Tracy Chapman......
I could go for hours but I thought that I would throw a smatering of
electric, accoustic, lead and rhythm. If I were to pick my All Time Gun
Slinger it would have to be accoustic folk picker Davey Graham.
Rock on!!!!!!!
crowe04 - 3/28/2005 at 01:48Slinger as in play with anyone and groove the room what about Junior
Brown. but pick one just one from dimebag to roy clark no way.
Omegaman - 3/29/2005 at 20:45I second tattoo's choice. Danny Gatton could play anything and play it
RIGHT!
Gerix - 7/2/2005 at 16:28Though he isn't very popular, I believe my favorite guitarist would have to
be Doyle Dykes. I don't know how to describe his playing style, but it
definitely inspires me to become a better guitarist.
xtcgo - 7/8/2005 at 01:28Allan Holdsworth
scofield2112 - 4/10/2006 at 16:02Micheal Hedges all of the way
