Hi, I'm relatively new to playing the guitar. I wouldn't call myself completely a newbie as music has always been a part of my life and so picking up basics wasn't too much of a hassle.

Anyways here's question: I'm looking to invest in an intermediate level/price range guitar, something around $300-450. The overwhelming consensus on how to buy a guitar is to "find one that you like", meaning to play a bunch of guitars until you find a certain "sound" that you like or tone style(deep/muddled vs bright). how exactly do i find out what i like? like I said, I'm relatively new to playing guitars; I've touched maybe a handful of them, the most expensive being a $1500 Taylor, and i think a medium priced Yamaha. As far as sound and tone quality is concerned, I didn't feel like there was that much of a noticeable difference between those two and the beginner el cheapo guitar my bro owns. Well okay, maybe there was some difference, but it wasn't like I preferred one sound over the other. How should i go about buying a guitar?

The big Question is what kind of music do you like? Who's some of your favorite players? We can narrow down a guitar for you then you can go from there.

um, i find myself to be more of a fingerstyle/jazz player. i've been told i have a sort of james taylor feel to my music, but then again i havent been playing long, and probably will have to strum with it eventually. i honestly dont know the names of that many guitar players, sorry.
