10/3/2007 at 12:28I have a collection of guitars and play everyday. I would like to set the
record straight about the Strats from the US and the MIM (made in Mexico)
in a nutshell, the mex strats are great. They are US pick ups and basically
all parts. The wood is cut and they are put together in Mexico. I would
MUCH rather buy a Mex ( which I did) and put in new pickups like area 61's
and 58's If you know your settings well, keep the pickups, they are fine.
You should get a new one for about 3-$450 Canadian with a gig bag. They
also seem to play faster than the built in US strats. The next step up is
around $700 to $800 built in the US but in my experience, save your money
and shop for noiseless pickups. Fat 50's are very good as are Dimarzio. I
believe you will definately have a better sounding guitar working with the
Mex strat.

10/3/2007 at 15:08Every strat is different regardless of where it's made. I have placed most
of the imports strats but I never liked the pickups and the hardware is
cheap. US made ones keep their value but that only matters if you want to
collect them. I rather play the leave the guitar in the case.
10/4/2007 at 00:14American strats rule! I have played both in gigging situations and the mex
does not stay in tune and does not have the same feel or vibe as the
American strat. Also import strats do not hold their value and will
certainly never be collectable. Besides, what is wrong with keeping
Americans employed making decent livings for their families?

11/29/2009 at 21:48I have a Fender Strat, south of the border, came with two hot texas
specials and a pearly gates plus in the bridge and a graphite nut and it is
a great all around guitar. It sells for around $650, so its not a lower
priced south of the border.
