I have the emg zakk wylde set that i was up last night attempting to install to save some money but i have a few problems that i just don't know about.

First of all I have a gothic epiphone that i just love for some reason and it's got two volume knobs and two tone knobs with a three way switch that may or may not be "gibson style" i wired it as the diagram showed for a "three way switch" however.

I have noticed these things...
I get the sound that my guitar used to make when i had one volume knob all the way down and the other all the way up with the switch set in the middle position ...when i have the chord all the way in.
..when i have it halfway in; however, it makes a very full sound that i am extremely satisfied with the only problems are...

it is halfway in the jack!
and ALSO. my volume knobs seam to operate as tone control and i cannot turn my guitar completely down when i need it

i was thinking that one...

my jack might have the wires confused

and maybe as far as my volume knobs go...heat damage from the soldering gun?
is that very possible?
i have other knobs that i can use if it's a likely situation but i'd rather not mess with it if there is a simpler explanation

well never mind?...the problem has just reversed itself...i did nothing...but it is working properly now..still any ideas what it could have been?!

Hmm, that's very odd, could have been some dirt shorting out the connections inside the pot

heh, wish mine sorted itself out!! I had the same problem with the chord halfway in the jack thing. That is weird...I'm wondering if their diagrams are wrong?? They supply you the output jack, and everything, but when you solder it the way they say it only works with chord halfway in. I don't know...I'm waiting for my guitar repair guy to get back from vacation so I can start jamming again.

i was using a stereo speaker chord as a guitar cable...
the active pickups need a stereo jack but only for the battery so it wasn't connecting the battery when it was plugged fully in and it also revered the polarity having it halfway in i think not sure about that one but thats the reason i have for the volume controls because everything works wonderfully now and i'm so glad i didn't pay some guy to do it at the shop
