Neat forum. I was wondering, are Washburn electric guitars good? I want a Fender, but I may not be able to find one in my price range and I was told to look at Washburn.

Fenders aren't that expensive. you can pick a mexican strat up for 3 and change all day.

IMHO Washburn is a decent name, but they make some really low end entry models.

Keep your eye out for a cheap Japanese Fender, almost as good as US as far as build quality is concerened but electrics can benefit from a little sheilding and new pots.
Much better than Mex and a real bargain for someone looking for a good fender without paying US prices
