Okay, I'm new here. Been away from the music scene for almost 20 years.
Prior to that, I played bass in numerous local bands (Tucson, AZ) and
collected a ridiculous amount of equipment. Then, marriage, mortgage and
middle age krept in and I put away/sold all my toys.
A couple years ago I got a new job... right across the street from a Guitar
Center (forgive me, Lord)... Guess where I spend my lunch most every day
now.
Suddenly, I'm playing again and discovered a new passion... building
guitars! I'm scanning the site for all sorts of new nuggets of info... and
will occaissionally throw my 2¢ in.

Sometimes when you take a break from something then come back to it you can
get a new outlook on it and in some cases actually improve over time.
As for building guitars I always wanted to but never did...I have a few
cool guitar shape concepts though which I never shared and hope to build or
have someone build for me someday.

1/31/2007 at 06:16Yeah, it's been an interesting adventure. I still consider myself a newbie
in guitar construction (only doing it about 2 years). Most of what I've
done can be considered Frankencasters... salvage some poor, misused/abused
relic, strip out the guts and strip off the finish... Sand/seal/new finish,
new parts, maybe even some reshaping of the body.
My current project is a 78' Peavey T-15 that I rescued from a local
"seconds" music store. Picked it up for about $60. Looked like some maniac
took a Dremel to it; removing the finish, "scalloping" the neck, and
painting it with some really bad varnish. The poor beast begged to be
either rebuilt or burnt.
I'm opting for the former.
